Vin Diesel backs down from Bond beating claims

06-Sep-2002 • Die Another Day

Vin Diesel, famous for "The Fast and the Furious", has stepped away from earlier claims that Bond is out of date and on his way out. The comments come after his latest "xXx" failed to live up to studio expectation at the box-office. The movie was supposed to spawn a new franchise to replace 007 in the new-age.

Yahoo Movie News: Fast-rising Hollywood hardman Vin Diesel has denied that his role as an all-action secret agent in director Rob Cohen`s forthcoming flick, xXx, will see him classed as the new James Bond.

"I definitely see xXx as a franchise but not as the new James Bond," the star told Australia`s Daily Telegraph.

Diesel then went on to show Ian Fleming`s masterspy some well-deserved respect, describing the character as " the father of secret agents."
