Confirmation on how the surfing sequence fits into DAD

11-Sep-2002 • Die Another Day

The surfing scenes filmed at "Jaws" in Hawaii were one of the first sequences to be revealed from "Die Another Day". Until today, it has been unclear as to how the sequence fits in to the story, as Bond visits Korea at both the beginning and the end of the film.

The Calgary Sun caught Brosnan for a brief interview at the Toronto International Film Festival:

"The producers have told me the role is mine as long as I like and I think I could go at least one more. I also know there will come a time to bow out graciously. I have to weigh those two alternatives.

"With Die Another Day, I definitely think we`ve made one of the best Bond films ever. At least with this one you can follow the plot."

Brosnan promises the opening sequence is one of the most spectacular ever conceived for a Bond film. "I end up surfing into Korea and that`s just the tip of the action iceberg."

Brosnan also says "Bond has a much lighter, more humorous touch to him this time because I`m getting more comfortable with the one-liners. I was always intimidated by them in the previous films."

Thanks to `MBE` for the alert.
