`Die Another Day` attracts 7.9 million viewers for UK TV premiere, breaks 2004 records

28-Oct-2004 • Die Another Day

Last night's network premiere screening of "Die Another Day" on ITV scooped the largest audience for a James Bond film on British television in 2004.

The terrestrial premiere of the fourth Pierce Brosnan outing, which came out in theatres in November 2002, attracted nearly 8 million viewers.

The film, which co-starred Halle Berry, was watched by 7.9 million viewers and attracted a 33% audience share between 9pm and 10.30pm.

After ITV's 10.30pm news, the movie concluded with 5.6 million viewers - a 46% audience share - between 11pm and 12.05pm.

"Die Another Day" has narrowly beaten last year's record of 7.8 million viewers for a Bond film when "The World Is Not Enough" was shown. Also in 2003, "GoldenEye" attracted 7.5 million despite having been shown on numerous occasions in previous years.

With 7.9 million viewers, "Die Another Day" is likely to feature highly in the UK's `most watched films` of 2004 list, which will be published in early 2005.
