Hands-on demo of FRWL videogame at NFT today

09-Jul-2005 • Gaming

The bfi National Film Theatre (NFT) is pleased to announce that this weekend's exciting new film and videogame event NTI* (*non-trivial interaction) will take place as scheduled on Saturday and Sunday (9 and 10 July). In partnership with RES, NTI* is the first-ever videogame culture event to be held at the bfi NFT and offers an unprecedented opportunity to explore what's happening in the pioneering zone where films and games intersect.

The weekend features talks, exclusive previews of forthcoming games and films, live cinematic-sized game play in a classic arcade, machinima screenings and discussions with some of the industry's leading games developers, designers and writers.

In a late change to the programme we are thrilled to announce that on Saturday afternoon we will show an exclusive playable demonstration of the forthcoming Sir Sean Connery-voiced James Bond game From Russia With Love. Participants at NTI* will be able to play an entire level of the game at our specially-constructed videogames arcade as well as other titles featured over the weekend.

Stuart Brown, events director at the NFT said: "We are delighted that a company of the importance of Electronics Arts – a global leader in its field – has really got behind the event and supported us in this way. It's a tremendous coup that we are able to offer a preview of this cutting-edge 007 game. It's a great precedent for future NTI* events."

The games arcade will also house retro and contemporary arcade machines, home platforms and videogame set-ups including a back-projected Star Wars trilogy and an authentic sit-in Star Wars cockpit cab.

Note: Two missions of "From Russia With Love" were playable at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles back in May this year. It is expected that the NFT demo will consist of one of these previously seen missions. Click here to read the full MI6 report on the E3 demo.
