Daniel Craig named as 007 #6 on movie rumour site

16-Sep-2005 • Casino Royale

Movie rumour website LDJW Films have confidently named Daniel Craig as the sixth James Bond 007, taking over from Pierce Brosnan.

The site's "exclusive Friday report" says:
The next James Bond will be Daniel Craig, our insider at Pinewood Studios in London has told us he impressed the producers more then Clive Owen (Closer) and Hugh Jackman (X-Men). Julian McMahon was the first choice but due to commitments with his Nip/Tuck contract he had to pull out. Craig, the star of Road to Perdition, Layer Cake and recently Enduring Love is to take over from Pierce Brosnan. In a move that will upset some people and put rest to millions of rumours, Craig will be the sixth Bond and will star in the upcoming 21st Bond film entitled ‘Casino Royale’ due to open late next year.

The site's track record includes releasing artwork for "Die Another Day" posters ahead of any other media outlet back in 2002.

However, 37 year-old Craig does not fit the profile of a "28 year-old Bond" as mentioned by screenwriter Paul Haggis in today's edition of The Hollywood Reporter.

Thanks to `Alex` for the alert.
