Security concerns force cancellation of DAD publicity trip in Israel

11-Dec-2002 • Die Another Day

The Al Bawaba Israeli news service are reporting that "security concerns" have forced the abandonment of the "Die Another Day" promotion in Israel.

A previously scheduled 24-hour visit to Israel was cancelled on November 27 at the last moment due to "security concerns", and the same fears have caused a repeat cancellation this time around.

According to Hebrew-daily Yediot Aharonot, the actor`s visit to Israel had been planned in light of the release of the new James Bond film Die Another Day. The Israeli "United King" company and the French "Metropolitan" company handled intense contacts with the movie`s producers, MGM, on the actor`s well-awaited visit. The original intention was to combine Brosnan`s visit with the opening of a new Cinema complex, located in central Israel.

Leon Adri, the owner of "United King", apparently upset over Brosnan`s visit cancellation, had said that the presidential suite at the Hilton Tel Aviv had been specially reserved for Brosnan. Moreover, a special limousine had been arranged to take the star to a tour of Jerusalem`s Old City, which the actor had especially requested to see.

It is unclear at this time as to who made the cancellation decision.
