Daniel Craig shapes up as 007 in chase sequence

23-May-2006 • Casino Royale

The trips to the gym paid off for new 007 Daniel Craig when it took THREE HOURS and TWENTY TAKES to get a chase scene right in his debut movie, reports the Daily Mirror.

In the scene the super-fit actor, with a gorgeous blonde in tow, chases two villains. He had to burst through a hotel door before leaping down many steps into a courtyard.

Craig, 38, was told to get in shape when Casino Royale producer Barbara Broccoli accused him of looking podgy, and hired a personal trainer.

An onlooker said: "Daniel didn't even stop for breath between takes - as if he had been James Bond for years." Filming took place in the Czech spa town of Karlovy.
