Next James Bond videogame from Activision planned for May 2008

04-Aug-2006 • Gaming

As MI6 reported ealier in the year, Activision have taken over the James Bond videogame franchise licence from Electronic Arts in a major coup.

However, there will be a period of overlap where both companies have active rights, until Activision gain exclusivity in September 2007.

In a conference call to investors earlier this week, Mike Griffith, President and CEO of Activision Publishing, was asked about plans for the Bond franchise.

"...on the Bond game, MGM have announced the release date for the next Bond movie following this holiday for May of 2008. That's where we would focus to have our first game."

So, fans will likely have to wait until May 2008 for the next 007 videogame, as EA have let it be known that they will not be releasing any further Bond titles even though they have rights until next summer.
