Casino Royale storms UK box-office, could become highest grossing film of 2006

02-Dec-2006 • Casino Royale

Casino Royale has taken a staggering equivalent of $60,000,000 USD in the film's first two full weeks on release in the UK.

This beats the total accummulated in the UK for the previous outing - "Die Another Day" (2002) - which totalled between $57m and $59m. Brosnan's last outing was in itself a considerable boxoffice improvement over "The World Is Not Enough" (1999).

Bond is also stacking up well against other big franchises in the UK too. "Pirates Of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest" took a marginally bigger opening weekend haul in the UK earlier this year, but "Casino Royale" has overtaken the "Pirates" flim through a two week period thanks to very stong hold-overs.

"Casino Royale" has a strong chance at becoming the number one film in the UK for 2006.

It is estimated that the worldwide total for "Casino Royale" will top the $300,000,000 mark after the third weekend's box-office figures are reported on Monday 4th December.
