TNN wins the world television premiere rights to Die Another Day

25-Mar-2003 • Die Another Day

TNN - the first network for men - has announced a licensing agreement for the first-run window rights to the most recent Bond release "Die Another Day," the most successful installment in the 40 year history of the franchise, grossing more than $400 million worldwide. TNN will share the first-run window rights with sibling network CBS. Under the terms of the agreement, TNN has also acquired the rights to three additional Bond films "The World Is Not Enough," "License to Kill" and "A View To A Kill" and several action-adventure titles.

This deal strengthens the network`s earlier joint acquisition of 15 classic James Bond films in April 2002. That agreement represented the first time that three Viacom-owned networks, TNN, UPN and CBS had acquired programming in one negotiation.

TNN launched the Bond franchise in November 2002 with a Bond at his Best week hosted by Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry. The network`s "Bond 007 Days of Christmas Marathon" was TNN`s highest rated week in 2002. TNN`s first Bond Thanksgiving marathon increased time period averages by 85% in the "Male 18 to 49" demographic and was the second highest rated week in 2002 for the network.

TNN and CBS will share first run window telecasts of "Die Another Day" in 2005, with TNN nabbing the world television premiere. TNN may begin telecasting "The World Is Not Enough" as early as winter 2003, and both "License To Kill" and "A View To A Kill" in 2004.
