Giancarlo Giannini talks Mathis and `Quantum of Solace`, wraps filming his scenes

07-Mar-2008 • Quantum Of Solace

In Quantum of Solace, the 22nd James Bond movie currently filming, “Bond becomes less cold, simpler; he rediscovers his sentimentality,” says one of the film’s stars, Giancarlo Giannini who starred in 2006’s Casino Royale, the first Bond movie to feature Daniel Craig. “This can also be seen in the Bond Girls,” continues Giannini. “They are still beautiful but less unattainable” - reports Tandem

Italian actor Giannini reprises the role from Casino Royale, where he starred as René Mathis, an agent, and 'ally' to James Bond.

Giannini has just finished filming scenes in Panama. “I really like the atmosphere on the set,” says Giannini. “Since I’m not always working on films, it’s even relaxing. Compared to Martin Campbell (director of Casino Royale) who specializes in action scenes, Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster is different. He works a lot with an actor’s ability to act. We talk a lot. He knows my films well and especially loves Pasqualino Settebellezze.” Giannini goes on to say that the story of the film, “will present many connections with reality and the conflicts we are seeing today.”
