More details emerge of `Quantum of Solace` filming in Panama last month

11-Apr-2008 • Quantum Of Solace

The "Quantum of Solace" production crew departed from Panama last month, but news has just reached MI6 of filming that took place at La Isla Cabra, near Colón in Panama.

According to local reports, the production team used a number of locations such as the Bay of Columbus, Jetty Pier 3, Goat Island and La Guaira.

On Goat Island, a scene was filmed in which "Bond and a companion arrive at the pier hotel in a small boat, and leave to walk on the pier. A friend of Bond's jumps on a jet ski and depart ovet the water."

The scenes filmed at Goat Island will double for Haiti in the movie.

In La Guaira, the shoot took place on Thursday 20th March with a sequence in which "Bond walks by the parking area of the hotel, took a car and leaving."

Preparation for these scenes took place one week prior to the date of the shooting, as reported by the manager of "B22" locations in South America, James Grant.

For the filming of the scenes, the production reportedly called for the removal of palm tree and a tree in the old Union Club facilities in the Old Town.

At the airport, permission was sought to take two palm trees that are located in front of the building back to its original position after completion of the filming.

For the filming in Bay of Columbus, the crew added some plants on the banks to help make the transition to a location later in the film.
