First reviews for region 1 (USA) and region 4 (Australia) `Die Another Day` Special Edition DVD online

07-May-2003 • Die Another Day

The first reviews of the "Die Another Day" Special Edition DVD have been published for the region 1 (USA) and region 4 (Australia) DVDs.

The discs are almost indentical to the recently released region 2 version, although they lack the R2 exclusive "From Scipt To Screen" documentary. The R1 also includes a brief glimpse at the next Bond game.

Bond is back and...better than ever? No? Okay, how about kinda tired and boring? Yep! But he`s 007, so you can`t ever hate him that much. Die Another Day was far from my favorite Bond, but lots and lots of stuff blows up real good, and there are plenty of extras here to keep you busy. MGM has produced a fairly good transfer aside from the edge enhancement, and the soundtrack is killer. Shake, not stir, the credit card and just enjoy it for what it is.

Like every movie in the Bond Franchise to date, the movie is presented in a widescreen print in a ratio of 2.35:1 and is anamorphically enhanced. The movie is, as you would expect visually stunning. Both the DD-EX and DTS-ES are as worthy as each other by which to view the movie. The DTS however has a far fuller sound during sequences involving the aforementioned sound effects and as these are present in just about every scene is the soundtrack of course. A good example of how an average movie can make a good DVD.
