`Devil May Care` enters US and Canadian best-seller book charts

08-Jun-2008 • Literary

The new James Bond continuation novel, "Devil May Care" by Sebastian Faulks, has entered the US and Canadian best-seller book charts after its first week of release, but not in the #1 spot as enjoyed in the UK.

The Vancouver Sun, which describes the book as a 'workmanlike' novel, reports "Devil May Care" is #7 in Canada and was not even the highest new entry to the chart (that honor went to "Blood Noir" by Laurell K. Hamilton at #4).

Things are slighty worse in the USA, where "Devil May Care" limped in at #8 in the highly respected New York Times bestsellers list for 'hardcover fiction'. "Bloor Noir", also on its first week of release, sailed straight to the #1 spot.

It faired similarly in the Wall Street Journal and Publishers Weekly charts where it ranked #9.

National newspaper USA Today placed "Devil May Care" #38 in its list of overall book sales from chain stores and online retailers.
