`Quantum of Solace` now playing in 61 territories around the world

07-Nov-2008 • Quantum Of Solace

What made the record-breaking opening of the 22nd James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" all the more impressive was the way it opened its first weekend. The film made its debut in only three territories: the UK, Sweden and France.

Daniel Craig's second outing as 007, following the 2006 blockbuster "Casino Royale", is now playing in a whopping 61 territories - the majority of the additional 58 all opening yesterday or today.

Countries in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa are now showing "Quantum of Solace". Click here for complete release dates.

More records are set to be smashed, as cinema owners have sold out screenings for opening nights and through the weekend.

"Quantum"s ultimate success may be gauged on Monday, when box-office figures for the film's second weekend in the UK will be revealed. Will it beat the critics and have a large follow-on, or suffer a significant drop off if word of mouth is not strong? Last time around, "Casino Royale" went on to take $105m in the UK alone. The stronger US dollar exchange rate has skewed some comparisons of international results.

"Quantum" opened with £15.4m, surpassing the previous outing's initial take of £13.37m.

The next major roll out will be North America, when the USA and Canada open their box-office for Bond on November 14. Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and Japan amongst others in South America will follow through to Janaury 2009.
