`Quantum` clinches $42m at the German box-office this quarter

20-Dec-2008 • Quantum Of Solace

James Bond gave the German boxoffice a "Quantum of Solace" as Marc Forster's take on the Brit spy franchise led the way to a 24% jump in theatrical revenue in the fourth quarter - reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Total German boxoffice for the period from Oct. 4-Dec. 19 was 175 million euros ($245 million), according to figures released Friday by Nielsen EDI. Attendance also soared, jumping 18.4% to 27.5 million tickets sold.

Bond led the way, with a boxoffice of $42 million in Germany, followed by recent entries "Madagascar 2" ($22 million) and "High School Musical 3" ($12.5 million).

Local boxoffice king Til Schweiger also has given German theater owners an early Christmas present with his new comedy, "1 _ Knights," which opened Thursday and is expected to hit blockbuster status by the new year
