'GoldenEye 007' enters US top ten chart, 'Blood Stone' is DOA

13-Nov-2010 • Gaming

One of the two new James Bond videogames released last week squeaked in to the top ten selling videogames chart in the USA (all titles, all platforms), but it wasn't the one most people expected.

Despite being only sold on the Nintendo Wii platform, "GoldenEye 007" entered the US charts at #10 with an estimated 96,735 units sold. Some blogs noted the game had sold out in some locations.

The other 007 title, "Blood Stone", which had the advantage of launching on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC could only muster an estimated 50,407 units across all platforms (18825, 24208 and 7374 units respectively).

The Nintendo DS versions of each game were not included in the above totals.

Given past performance of James Bond videogames in the charts, "Blood Stone" may become of the lowest selling 007 titles in the past 10 years. The current record holder, "From Russia With Love" by EA Games, only sold an estimated 800,000 units on all platforms in the USA and Europe.

Official chart figures for the month of November will not be known until the next NPD report.
