James Bond tops another movie quotes poll

23-Nov-2010 • Bond News

'The name's Bond. James Bond' has been voted the top film quote of all time, closely followed by 'ET phone home' and Star Wars gem 'May the Force be with you'.

In the list compiled on the back of a survey by Asda's Pulse of the Nation, Toy Story icon Buzz Lightyear's 'To infinity... and beyond!' popped up in fourth place, followed by Gone With The Wind's ' Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn'.

Clark Gable uttered the immortal line - voted the top movie line of all time by the American Film Institute 2005 - in his role as Rhett Butler to Vivien Leigh's Scarlett O'Hara in the 1939 classic.

At the end of the film, when Scarlett asks Rhett, 'Where shall I go? What shall I do?' if he leaves her, he gives her the line in reply and signals that he's finally given up on her. It also made its mark at the time of the movie's release because profanities like 'damn' were generally not allowed in films of the era.
