The group was composed of 100 students from three high schools in the Los Angeles area. The program sought to "educate, motivate, and inspire them to pursue careers in film and television," director of media relations Bill Krenn wrote in an e-mail.

Craig Detweiler, Pepperdine associate professor and director of the Center for Entertainment, Media and Culture, Craig Detweiler hosted the event in which CIFTF chief executive Joan Burney Keatings introduced several award-winning Irish films and screened a select few.

Later, several faculty members hosted a series of film workshops that covered a variety of subjects related to film with Distinguished Filmmaker in Residence, Joseph Sargent.

The event ended with a presentation and a Q-and-A with Pierce Brosnan, film star and film producer most well known for his role as James Bond in the popular film series, and his wife Keely Shaye, journalist and author.
