MGM and Fox settle class action lawsuit for James Bond DVD boxset claims

16-Mar-2018 • Bond News

Last year, a class action lawsuit was brought against MGM and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment due to their claims that the BOND 50 set contained 'all the James Bond films.' The case argued that the statement was misleading as the set did not include the non-EON productions films 'Casino Royale' (1967) and 'Never Say Never Again' (1983).

The case was approved by a federal judge to proceed to trial, but it has now been settled out of court.

If you bought the box set you may be entitled to a free digital copy of those two films.

All the documents about the case can be found on a dedicated website: www.bondDVDsettlement.com

Full text of the settlement:

What is This Settlement About?

A settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit over how Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. ("MGM") and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment LLC ("Fox") (collectively "Defendants") marketed certain James Bond movie sets.  The settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing and the Court has not decided who is right and who is wrong.  Instead, the parties decided to settle the dispute.
