Brett Jones was a core member of the small group of inexperienced game developers who created one of gaming's all-time greatest titles - 'GoldenEye 007' - back in the late 1990s. It was his first credit after earning a masters Degree in Computer Animation.

Over the course of three years working on the legendary title at Rare, Jones was responsible for modelling, texture, concept art, animation, UV layout, and drawing. His career at Rare lasted 7 years, the second half of which was spent on the spiritual sequel 'Perfect Dark.'

Awards rolled in for 'GoldenEye' and 'Perfect Dark' both earning Game of the Year BAFTAs and Console Action Game of the Year from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.

After leaving Rare, Jones moved over to animation and VFX for film and television and had an impressive list of projects including 'Dr. Who', 'Fast & Furious', and 'Guardians of the Galaxy.' Jones' last credit was on 'The Last Jedi' in 2018.

"My job is cool! I get to work with crazily talented people and add my own drop of talent into the mix. Whether I’m rigging robots, painting scales on dinosaurs or sculpting a character in Zbrush there really is no better way to spend a day." - Brett Jones.

Fellow Rare alumnus legend David Doak paid tribute last night: "RIP Brett Jones - you absolute legend... So much of what made GoldenEye and Perfect Dark special came from Brett's talent and rascal humour."

Brett Jones passed away in July 2024 in Leicestershire. A crowd funding campaign is running to showcase Jones' artwork in a special exhibition to be held in Hinckley, Leicestershire from November 4th, 2024.
