Universal will distribute the 26th James Bond film internationally, as previously agreed when MGM signed the deal for the media giant to handle 'No Time To Die's worldwide release.

The news comes off the back of an announcement that MGM have signed an agreement with Warner Bros to distribute their films internationally for the next 3 years. The deal did not include Bond 26 as it was covered by an existing two-film deal with Universal that started with Daniel Craig's swansong. It is doubtful that Bond 26 will be released in the next 3 years, anyway.

MGM is likely to extend the Warner Bros deal if the relationship goes smoothly, as choices of international distribution partners are limited. This means Bond 27 will probably be under the WB umbrella outside of North America. They are already partnered to release Bluray and DVDs after MGM dumped Fox after they were bought by Disney.

Warner Bros is now run by co-chairs and CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy who quit MGM earlier the year.

Amazon, who took over MGM earlier this year, do not have an international film distribution capability and is unlikely to enter that business unless they make an additional acquisition. Amazon and MGM will distribute theatrically in the USA and Canada through the reborn United Artists Releasing company.
