MI6 first reported that the
opera stage "Seebühne Bregenzer" was scheduled
to host James Bond with filming of a "Tosca" performance
way back in July
2007. Talks were still underway to secure the unique
location in Bregenz, Austria, for the film back
in December last year, and although no
contracts had yet been signed, in January notices
for extras casting were posted. With "Quantum
now three weeks in to production, and casting
for the 1,500 extras already complete, agreements have

Austrian theatre chiefs that run the spectacular
floating stage have
confirmed that part of "Quantum of Solace" will
be filmed there. The filming will take place on Lake Stage Bregenz,
a huge platform floating on Lake Constance, and James Bond will
fight his enemies
during a performance of Giacomo Puccini's opera Tosca.
The 200-man-plus film crew will be in
Bregenz for 10 days from April 30 to May 9, and 1,500 extras
have already been recruited, Swiss production company Unicorn
Media confirmed in a Friday statement confirming rumours
that have been circulating for some time.
Director Marc Forster and producers Barbara Broccoli and
Michael G. Wilson visited the Seebuehne in Bregenz for
a dress rehearsal last summer and were very enthusiastic
about the location.
"The Seebuehne is really an extraordinary place,
the scenery is spectacular," Broccoli said. Wilson
added: "What we saw in July 2007 was very impressive.
James Bond movies have always taken the cinema audience
to special locations - and the gigantic eye of the Tosca
scenery is absolutely unique. The Tosca scenery with the
huge blue eye fits the story of the new James Bond movie
Daniel Craig himself revealed that he is also looking
forward to filming at the Seebuehne.
He said: "I've never been to Austria, and I'm very
happy that my career is finally taking me there. The Seebuehne
and the Bregenzer Festspiele are world famous, and we will
spend more than a week there to shoot one of the movie's

Previously, Unicorn chief Leonhard Gmür
said that "in
the final film, the scene on the floating stage will last a maximum
of five minutes". Local reports indicate that the sequence
will involve 007 interrupting the opera performance by chasing
a villain through the grandstands before moving in to the Bregenz
Festival House. The nearby town of Feldkirch has also been selected
for filming, but for a minor scene.

He went on to say Bond (Daniel Craig) will be seen in
at the bar of the first class section of one of the Virgin
Atlantic aircraft. Branson also joked that
he'll not be making an appearance in this one. "They haven't asked me!" He
quipped. Adding, Branson stated having Virgin be part of Bond is a very good
set of advertising.
Rival airline British Airways cut Sir
Richard's cameo out of the film when they aired "Casino
Royale" on their in-flight entertainment, and also
airbrushed out the Virgin logo.
