Daniel Craig's 'Purity' TV mini-series delayed due to Bond 25 schedule

08-Aug-2017 • No Time To Die

Last year, it was announced that Daniel Craig would star in a new TV mini-series 'Purity' with the aim to complete shooting before he would be needed on a possible fifth outing as James Bond.

Showtime President and CEO David Nevins has today said that 'Purity' has been delayed until 2019 because Daniel Craig must first complete a Bond film - therefore confirming that he will return to the 007 role.

"He’s doing Bond first," Nevins said. "I can’t say anything about what I know or don’t know about Bond. That’s not my area."

Nevins assured that Craig is still interested in making 'Purity,' but the Showtime production has likely been pushed back to 2019.

Purity is based on the Jonathan Franzen novel. Showtime plans two 10-episode seasons to complete the story. Craig would play the character Andreas Wolf, but the central character is Pip. Fans of the book will know how many scenes Wolf is in, but Nevins said to expect Craig in the bulk of the 20 episodes.
