Whilst promoting his latest film 'The Dig,' actor Ralph Fiennes went public with his desire to continue to play the role of M after Daniel Craig departs the series when 'No Time To Die' is eventually released.

He told Total Film: "If anyone from Eon Films (sic) is listening, I'm very keen to continue training the new Bond," Fiennes said with a laugh. "I love playing M, and I love being part of that franchise. But who knows? Things have to change. But I love working with Daniel. He's a terrific Bond. I will treasure that experience."

Their coverage added that "Fiennes wouldn't be the first M to stick around for multiple Bonds." In fact, if he departed along with Craig, he would be the only M to not work with multiple Bond actors.

Bernard Lee was M opposite Sean Connery, George Lazenby, and Roger Moore. Next up, Robert Brown appeared as M with both Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton. Prior to Fiennes, Judi Dench was M in both Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig's tenures. Thus, if Fiennes did not continue as M into a seventh actor's tenure as James Bond, he would have the shortest run as M and the only M to not work with multiple actors.
