The estate of the late Maurice Binder auctioned a lot of his James Bond materials today at the Hollywood event at Heritage Auctions. Some of the treasures included original storyboards for the film title sequences and trailers, hand-drawn storyboards, photographs from behind the scenes (including many nude shots of the female models), and scripts.

Headlining the lots were Binder's storyboards for the 'Dr. No' title sequence that first introduced the world to the cinematic James Bond. Everyone expected it to fetch a princely sum, but few predicted the boards would sell for over $100,000! Collectors were surely left disappointed as the same bidder took home every lot (except the merchandise and one shooting script). Who was the mysterious 'Bidder 7170' that spent over $500,000? Winners are kept anonymous so it is left to speculation. Could it have been Danjaq securing the original materials?
