Press Release
With just one month to go before the attraction opens its doors, the countdown to the launch of BOND WORLD 007 has started. Work is in full swing and the visuals and acoustics have made strides forward too. The final preparations for the June 29 Grand Public Opening with George Lazenby are well underway. The experience on the trip to Gimmelwald – Mürren – Birg and Piz Gloria starts at the new look valley station. The acoustics in the cable cars from Stechelberg to the summit are designed to attune passengers to their Alpine surroundings and set the mood for a visit to BOND WORLD 007. The entire Schilthorn Cableway team is working hard on the finishing touches of BOND WORLD 007 and particularly on the Grand Public Opening of 29 June 2013.

The valley station at Stechelberg reveals a first innovation: the newly installed cladding welcomes passengers to the magnificent high-Alpine environment before they have travelled one metre. The new facade with its image of the mountain panorama sets the mood for the views that await, showing the unrivalled “skyline” with unimpeded views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Stechelberg station has been fitted out with an air and light permeable plastic tarpaulin, making it the first milestone of Schilthorn Cableway’s new visual presence.

During the journey itself, our members of staff introduce themselves and provide interesting facts and information on the altitude, surroundings and distance covered. Not to forget the iconic BOND theme music that sets the scene for BOND WORLD 007.

The Touristorama at the Schilthorn summit is still in the hands of the tradesmen who are working hard to ensure that the movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service gets a new lease of life. When it opens on 29 June, the interactive exhibition will whisk visitors away into the world of James Bond. The attraction offers scenes from the film as well as various features that invite visitors to test their own James Bond skills. All of the key scenes are represented – from James throwing his hat skilfully onto the hook in Miss Moneypenny’s office to the breathtaking bobsleigh ride. Personal BOND moments also beckon in the helicopter simulator in the original chassis of a decommissioned Air Glaciers Alouette III that flew to the Schilthorn on its very last flight. The in-house cinema shows clips of the iconic movie and the panorama video reveals fascinating insights and views of the Alpine world of the Schilthorn. Many other attractions, information and first-hand accounts of people who were there when the scenes were shot await visitors to BOND WORLD 007.

BOND WORLD 007 opens its doors on Saturday, 29 June 2013, and we have a programme planned that will delight every BOND fan. The highlight of the event will be two one-hour autograph signing sessions at the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant with the protagonists of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service George Lazenby (James Bond actor), John Glen (Unit Director), Terry Mountain (Raphael), Sylvana Henriques (Angel), and Jenny Hanley (Angel), starting at 11.00 and 14.00 hrs. The presence of the Swiss James Bond Club will provide in-depth knowledge of the ins and outs of Bond lore and special tandem flights and planned scenic helicopter flights are sure to get the BOND endorphins flowing. The Bollinger Champagne Bar and Piz Gloria Head Chef Thorsten Uffelmann’s exquisite culinary delights promise a bubbly and relaxing ambiance with much more than just a touch of BOND glamour.
