In the mid-1980s, as his tenure as James Bond was coming to a close, Roger Moore flew to Venice to shoot a two-minute television commercial for Lark cigarettes to be broadcast exclusively in Japan. A couple of years later, Timothy Dalton would take over the 007 role and would also shoot Japanese ads for Lark.

Roger Moore's commercial for Lark cigarettes

In his memoir 'My Word Is My Bond,' Moore recalled the gig: "I absolutely adore Venice and have returned many times since–once to shoot a commercial for Lark cigarettes for Japanese TV. As opposed as I am to smoking, I’m a bit of a ponce when it comes to earning a few quid–but I was never shown smoking a cigarette, if that mitigates me slightly?"
