Daniel Goozee was born in Astoria, Oregon, in 1943 and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with distinction from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. His career began as a fine artist, and he later found commercial work for the motion picture industry, film advertising posters, and theme parks.
Growing up in a small town in Oregon, his love of movie posters was imbued from an early age as his father operated the two movie houses where he worked on weekends.
For Bond fans, he is best known for his stunning artwork for the poster campaigns for 'Moonraker', 'Octopussy', and 'A View To A Kill'.
His other movie poster credits include 'The Poseidon Adventure,' 'Towering Inferno,' 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind,' and 'Crocodile Dundee.'
Goozee was also a long-term consultant with Walt Disney Imagineering, where some of his most prominent work can be seen at Disneyland Paris and Tokyo DisneySea, including Splash Mountain and Expedition Everest.
As a fine artist, he received awards from Oil Painters of America, Watercolor West, and the California National Watercolor Society. In 1994 he won the gold medal for figure painting at the 85th Annual Gold Medal Show of the California Art Club. In 1998 and 2000, he received first-place awards at the California Art Club’s annual plein-air event at Mission San Juan Capistrano.
Dan Goozee passed away in April 2024. He was 81.
