Writing duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are back on 007 duty as they take over the Bond 24 script from John Logan
Long time Bond scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade appear to be back on the 007 series. According to reports, the duo are on script duty again for Bond 24 after having stepped away from the franchise after "Skyfall".
The British writing team, who took over main story development for the films with "The World Is Not Enough" back in 1999 through to the 2012 blockbuster, handed over the reigns to American John Logan in 2012, who came onboard "Skyfall" for final polish. It was originally intended for Logan to pen both Bond 24 and Bond 25 solo, but it now appears that Purvis & Wade are back to sharpen up the script. If the news is accurate, filming for Bond 24 will be pushed back from October to December 2014 to allow time for the changes. Oscar-nominated John Logan is a favourite of director Sam Mendes, but just this month spoke out that he could not see himself working on big feature films in the future.
The ever reliable Bond news source Baz Bamigboye writes in his Daily Mail column that the duo "have just been hired to re-write Logan ’s script and give it some ‘punch’."
An executive associated with the Bond films noted: "Neal and Robert are only doing what was done to them. There’s no blood; no scars." Asked whether there was any turmoil, they responded: "Let’s call it polite turmoil. People are getting on with their work, but we have to wait for the script, so filming won’t begin till December, a few months later than they wanted."
Purvis and Wade spoke candidly to MI6 Confidential magazine earlier this year about their fourteen years working on the franchise. Click here to order issue #24 online.
Bond 24 will be released on October 23rd in the UK and November 6th in the USA.
