Andrew Scott speaks of his time as 'C' in SPECTRE
By MI6 Staff
It's perhaps for the best that Max Denbigh was killed off at the end of 'SPECTRE' as actor Andrew Scott would have been unlikely to return.
The plot 'twist' in the film is that the head of British Intelligence turns traitor and sells out to Blofeld. This was originally planned to be M, but Ralph Fiennes put his foot down and refused to betray the character. Producers then turned to Andrew Scott to play 'C,' chief of MI5 and rival to M.
With Scott best known for his appearance as the villainous Moriarty in the rebooted Sherlock television show, many fans instantly (and correctly) predicted his character would go against Bond when the cast was revealed at the launch press conference. Producers and Scott tried to deny this, rebuffing questions by saying 'Max Denbigh' was the head of MI5.
In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, Scott reveals he was not happy with his work on 'SPECTRE'.
"If I’m honest, it’s not a territory that I feel like I would want to go over again."
"Now I know who I am a little bit more, I feel like the work that I’m just interested in doing is more in the grey areas. I suppose it’s just that I didn’t think… I just maybe wasn’t that good in it.”
